Morning out and back run to BCreek. Cool, cloudy weather. I have been pretty stressed lately with family, work and calling. It felt so theraputic to just go out and blow it off and feel the pleasant feeling of a nice run. Good stuff!!

Nice TM run at the Aquatic Center while watching the Yankees play Tampa Bay. Did the interval program with Max speed of 6.5 at 1% incline and Min speed of 5.2 and flat. just for fun I ran the last interval at 7.0. Can't wait till I can do all of them at that pace!

Lifted weights. I am now able to bench 2 sets of 7 with 125 lbs. Doesn't sound like a lot but it is a heck of a more than I used to be able to do. My goal is to recapture my High School bench press max of 215 lbs.

60 min Cross Training. 40 on bike, 10 on elliptical and 10 on rower. At Aquatic center in the morning (had the day off of work). Alex was there lifting and Jared walked in just as I was finishing up.

This was a fun, local race to benefit Habitat for Humanity. My 13 year old daughter ran with me, which made it a lot of fun. There were about 100 or so runners. They offered a 5k, 10k and 27 mile bike ride.

Not much to report, we held a good strong pace for the whole 3 miles and then kicked in for the last 0.1. My daughter pulled away from me at the end and beat me by about 100 yards.

Nice 3 mile TM run at the Aquatic Center before work. Intervals: 5.5@flat-----6.5@1%

I bought a book on Saturday called "The Spectrum" by Dean Ornish. It has given me a lot of motivation to adopt an eating style that is mostly fruit and vegetables with a little bit of meat.

And the most important thing I have taken away from this book is that at least for the first three days or so, abruptly switching to this way of eating is probably going to make me feel miserable. But if I stick with it, within 6 weeks I will be hooked and will have a hard time ever going back to McDonalds and cookies and cake and ice cream etc.

This rings so true to me!!!! All I have to do is take out the word eating and insert the word running and that is exactly the way I became a runner. It all started with reading a book on running. Ican't remember what it was called, but it was by Jeff Galloway. It took about 6 weeks of sticking to it (and many more books and magazines) and now I'm so hooked I could never go back to a non- running lifestyle.

I have become more and more aware lately that the speedy runners around here are very lean. I am not lean. But I will be and as I combine leanness with consistent training I am going to get FAST! And that's pretty exciting.

Usual Thursday morning 3.5 mile run on BCreek.

Still eating large quantities of  vegetables and fruits (with just a little lean meat thrown in here and there). I feel full all the time and have lost  6 lbs in one week of eating this way.

I have read that you aren't supposed to lose more than a couple pounds a week. But I'm not really trying to lose any. I'm just eating tons of great food so I will recover from my runs faster and have more energy throughout the day. I will just let my weight go wherever it naturally wants to go. I hope it keeps going down because that will make me a faster runner.

I'm patiently waiting for my taste for junky food to go away. I think it will take about three weeks.
